Room 224 Education Building, 71 Curry Place, University of Manitoba
Join us as Commissioner Murray Sinclair helps to begin the conversation on how teacher education may best respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to Action. Justice Sinclair will draw upon the knowledge he has gained from his experience as Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Commissioner Sinclair will respond to the following questions as he helps to guide our conversation:
Justice Murray Sinclair
The Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair was appointed Associate Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of Manitoba in March of 1988 and to the Court of Queen's Bench of Manitoba in January 2001. He was Manitoba's first Aboriginal Judge. Justice Sinclair was appointed as Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and has been instrumental from the very beginnings of the inquiry to the Calls to Action that have been brought forward. Commissioner Sinclair will help to frame the Calls to Action into an educational context. His leadership role in the development of the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will provide a valuable background for these important conversations.
