Lisa Wood is a figurative painter whose work involves a self scrutiny and contemplation that manifests itself in self-portraits and portraits of her mother. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba, and went on to study painting at Yale University, obtaining her Master of Fine Arts degree. She has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including Manitoba Arts Council and Winnipeg Arts Council grants to individual artists. Her work has been shown in Canada and the US. She currently resides in Winnipeg where she is a sessional instructor at the University of Manitoba School of Art.
