University 1 helps students by assisting with degree planning and building the necessary skills to achieve academic and personal success. University 1 advisors also offer help with adjusting to university life. U1 academic advisors are available year round and students are encouraged to seek out information and advice at regular intervals throughout the year.
University 1 encourages parents, guardians, and other family members to be invested in their student's university experience; however, University staff and academic advisors strive to promote student independence and are bound by FIPPA and PHIA Acts to protect student confidentiality.
The resources listed below are provided to help facilitate a better understanding of the university experience for parents, guardians, and other family members with students who are planning/are attending the University of Manitoba.
