Making the Grade! is a new program taking place on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, for you, our future U of M students!

 Attending Making the Grade! is a great way to get ready for September. You can:

  • Learn study skills and time management strategies for university success;
  • Gain tips on ways to stay healthy as a new student;
  • Find out ways to engage with communities both on and off campus;
  • Meet upper-year students and ask your burning questions about university life;
  • Join a campus tour;
  • Get your student ID card and your Active Living Centre membership;
  • Participate in our Spot Billy the Bison contest to WIN one of two $100 gift certificates to the U of M Bookstore.

Registration is now closed, but you can still join us on Wednesday! Follow the directions below for parking details, then head to the first floor of Fletcher Argue to pick up your guide for the evening from the Check-In Station. If you're not sure where to go, look for one of our volunteers in orange shirts!

As a student, you will be able to pick which sessions and events you want to take part in.

The Indigenous Student Centre welcomes students attending Making the Grade! to visit Migizii Agamik – Bald Eagle Lodge. Meet Indigenous Student Centre staff and get a tour of this culturally-rich building. In addition, Indigenous students can learn more about Migizii Agamik resources, Indigenous Student Centre programming and Indigenous-focused programs. There will also be Indigenous student advisors available for half-hour advising sessions. Indigenous students can request to see an advisor on a drop-in basis; however, an appointment is recommended to ensure you are seen. You can contact the Indigenous Student Centre at 204-474-8850 to book an advising appointment.

The Academic Advisors in the First Year Centre (205 Tier Bldg) are available to meet with any newly admitted student for 30-minute advising sessions during Making the Grade!. Have your registration checked, discuss your plan for the upcoming academic year, or just come by to say hello and meet your advisor. Please call 204 474-6209 to schedule an advising appointment.   

Career Services (474 UMSU University Centre) will be open and Career Consultants will be available on a drop-in basis to provide support and advice around career exploration. Get a jump start on your career plan and learn about the services and resources available as you progress through your degree.  

Campus tours* start at 4:45 pm and run every half hour until 6:45 pm.
*Weather permitting.

Free parking will begin at 4:30 pm. When you arrive on campus, please park in B Lot*. Details on where to go after parking are listed above, but will also be in your reminder email. *(Please note, construction will be taking place on the east and west sides of the south end of University Crescent. Delays can be expected.)
