U of M researcher Carl Ho works in a lab.
  • Biosensors Research Lab

The Biosensors Research Lab is a multidisciplinary research group at UM developing lab-on-a-chip devices for biological and biomedical applications. The group takes engineering approaches to design and fabricates sensors that are able to detect and manipulate cells and biomolecules. On-chip electrical measurement is one of its prime research areas, enabling detection of biological phenomena.

  • Geotechnical Engineering Group

The Geotechnical Group is actively involved in laboratory testing, field-scale projects and numerical modelling in topics such as soil mechanics and foundation engineering, geo-environmental engineering, geo-synthetics, soil-structure interaction, groundwater hydrogeology and contaminant transport, ground improvement and unsaturated soil mechanics.

  • Wireless Communications, Networks, and Services (WiCoNS) Research Group

The WiCoNS Group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering performs multi-disciplinary research in the areas of wireless communications networks, cognitive/self-organizing and "green" radio systems, network economics, applied game theory and mobile and cloud computing systems.
