WWI & Versailles 1919: The Making of the Modern World (Dis) Order

January 23 - 24, 2019

McNally Robinson and the Great Hall, University College

This year’s event will include an opening evening at McNally Robinson Library, as well as two days of panels exploring the theme of Versailles 1919: The Making of the Modern World (Dis) Order, in honour of the 100th year anniversary of the singing of the Treaty of Versailles.

The keynote speaker is Tim Cook, author of many books on WWI.  His talk will explore the legacy of WWI on Canada.

On Thursday, panelists will discuss the importance of and creation of the "modern" state, international organizations and the conduct of war established by the Treaty of Versailles that still reverberates today.
