Our team provides a variety of services to Canadian Indigenous students in pursuit of their Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) or Professional Graduate degree, including tutoring, access to bursaries & scholarships, and networking opportunities. Whether you are in your first year or a final year student, our dedicated staff and friendly students are eager to welcome you into our growing community.

Services for undergraduate students

IBEP welcomes all First Nation, Inuit, and Metis students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at the I.H. Asper School of Business regardless of faculty of registration (for example, U1, Arts, or Asper).

We host special events throughout the year, including our Annual Welcome Night, the Visionary Indigenous Business Excellence (VIBE) Awards gala dinner, Career Exploration Day, and other events planned with the student action group University of Manitoba Indigenous Commerce Students (UMICS).

Academic support

From your first steps on campus to your last across the graduation stage, IBEP ensures your academic success by offering:

  • Supportive community of senior students are eager to mentor you in your first few terms,
  • Regular meetings IBEP Staff to help navigate the university system of academic and non-academic resources,
  • Complimentary tutoring sponsored by Canadian Western Bank for required calculus, statistics, finance and accounting courses.

Scholarships, awards, and bursaries

We offer a variety of scholarships, bursaries, and awards each year to qualifying undergraduate members, including entrance awards, an international study award when you participate in Asper's International Exchange Program, and for students who are admitted into Asper through one of our Joint Programs.

Further, IBEP offers the following awards on behalf of external scholarship providers, including:

  • CIBC Bursary in Business Education,
  • CPA Manitoba Scholarship in Indigenous Business Education,
  • Tribal Councils Investment Group Scholarship and Bursary,
  • Vision Quest - Steve Prince Memorial Bursary.

IBEP hosts several events and gatherings to connect our students and the business community in a comfortable, inclusive environment throughout the academic year.

IBEP supports your search for summer and career opportunities through our annual Career Exploration Day (speed networking event with hiring managers) and regularly scheduled Lunch-and-Learn discussions. Services for Professional Graduate Program students

All First Nations, Inuit and Métis students admitted to the Asper MBA program are invited to join IBEP. In addition to a vibrant, welcoming community, IBEP provides Indigenous Professional Graduate students with academic and networking support.

  • Academic support

    IBEP provides tutoring to its Professional Graduate program students enrolled in challenging courses such as Accounting and Corporate Finance.

    IBEP and Graduate Program staff are jointly available to assist you in navigating the university system of academic services.

  • Networking opportunities

    IBEP Professional Graduate program students are invited to attend all IBEP events held throughout the academic year.
