Dr. Gordon Giesbrecht holds a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E.) from the University of Manitoba (1985), an M.Sc. (Human Thermoregulation) from the University of Manitoba (1986), and a Ph.D. (Respiratory Physiology) from the Dept. of Physiology, University of Manitoba (1990). This was followed by one year of post-doctoral research training in the Dept. of Medicine, University of Calgary. In 1991 Dr. Giesbrecht joined the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management with a joint appointment in the Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Giesbrecht is a Professor in the Faculty of PKinesiology and Recreation Management, and the Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Manitoba. For the past 14 years Dr. Giesbrecht has conducted research in the areas of control of respiration, treatment for hypothermia and general human thermoregulation. Some of this work has been completed through collaboration with many leaders in the area of thermoregulatory physiology.

Dr. Gerald Bristow is Professor of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Manitoba, and Clinical Anesthesist at the Health Sciences Center and the Seven Oaks General Hospital, in Winnipeg. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (U of MB) in 1964 and undertook his Anesthesia Residency Training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and the Health Sciences Center, Winnipeg, in 1966-70.
