Mission Statement
To provide fitness, fun, and friendship to students, staff and the community, and to promote badminton as a lifelong sport.
Play is recreational in nature with members ranging from beginner to advanced with everything in between.
Membership with the Badminton Club is open to students, staff and members of the community. However, it is the policy of the U of M Rec Clubs to limit membership to no more than 50% community members in order to promote strong student participation and leadership within the club. Please contact us at uofmbadminton@gmail.com for more information.
Members are required to have a minimum 4 month Bison Recreation Services gym membership (in appropriate membership category as only U of M students are eligible for the student rate) if they wish to participate in club. The Badminton Club also has a $15 membership fee for the academic year (September to April) and $5 for the summer (May to August). Birdies and nets are provided, but please bring your own racket.
Any interested players are encouraged to drop in on one of our regularly scheduled playing times at no charge as one free visit is allowed before joining. If you are interested in a free visit please see the Customer Service Staff at the Frank Kennedy Centre to be added to the guest list. Following the free visit if you wish to become a member of the club you must purchase a membership for Bison Recreation Services and pay the Club membership fee. Please ensure that once you decide to become a member of the Badminton Club that you have your name added to the club roster simply by visiting the Customer Service Desk in Frank Kennedy Centre.
***Please Note: The practice of purchasing day passes to participate in club activities is strictly forbidden and if participants are found doing so the club may be placed on probation or loss of their club status.
