Educational Initiatives

The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is excited to be introducing in September 2009 major changes to our Undergraduate program to better serve our students and the community. A table of the new curriculum and courses requirements will be posted in Mechanical Program.

The new Mechanical Engineering program curriculum allows students greater course selection and flexibility. The forty-five course curriculum is designed to offer a Mechanical Engineering degree with specialization and retain Aerospace as an option. The Manufacturing program will become an option within the Mechanical program. Forty courses are core to all Mechanical Engineering students and 5 courses are technical electives. Students may select their technical electives to meet the requirements of an option in Aerospace (5 courses) or Manufacturing (5 courses), or a stream (minimum 3 courses from a stream with the remaining two technical electives from either the same stream or other technical electives) in Thermo-fluids, Solid Mechanics, or Materials, or choose a broad selection of 5 courses (non-specialty).
