REGARDLESS of the degree program you applying for, you MUST first find an Academic Advisor (professor) who agrees to tentatively accept you into his/her program BEFORE FORMALLY applying to Graduate Studies -- The Graduate Advisor cannot solicit professors on your NO GRE is required
There are NO "Conditional Admissions" for
- low grades
- lack of English Language Exam marks
- low English Language Exam marks
PART-TIME STATUS
- MUST be OK'd by the Professor tentatively accepting you into his/her program
- MUST meet criteria for part-time status
- MUST provide documentation confirming criteria for part-time status
PRE-MASTER PROGRAM (our definition of ) -- Not for students with low grades DEADLINE DATES
Intake periods are finalized by theto the professor looking at your paperwork. Please speak to your intended professor to inquire when he/she might be able to take you into the program
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT -- Countries Exempt from language examination
A passing English language exam is REQUIRED prior to formal acceptance to the graduate program. A passing English language test score must be recieved by the Facutly of Graduate Studies at least one(1) prior to their Deadline Date.
GPA & INTERNATIONAL STUDENT GRADE CONVERSION CHART
- The University requires, from students of some universities, a bachelor's degree AND one additional year in a honour's or master's program. This mean one year in an honour's or master's program beyond the bachelor's degree. Please check the grade conversion charts to make sure you qualify for our programs.
IMPORTANT
FIND AN ACADEMIC ADVISOR
BEFORE submitting an application and sending all your paperwork to the University you MUST first FIND AN ACADEMIC ADVISOR (REGARDLESS of the DEGREE PROGRAM to which you are applying you must have an advisor BEFORE formally applying to the program)
- REGARDLESS OF DEGREE PROGRAM -- you must first find an Academic Advisor who will accept or consider you BEFORE you formally apply to the Faculty of Graduate Studies
- LIST OF ADVISORS (professors)
- select several professors who are in your research area
- DO NOT mass mail professors, if you are considered harassing, your emails will be blocked
- send these selected professors your Statement of Intent
- this will be the only chance you'll have to tell the professor about your research and academic background
- you must be brief -- no more than 2 pages double spaced
- if you do not hear back from anyone within 6 weeks, at this time, no one is interested in accepting you as their student
- if a professor asks you to formally apply to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, this is not a guarrantee that you have been accepted to the program
- your official application and paperwork must be evaluated by the professor and, for Ph.D. applicants, a Ph.D. selection committee
- you may or may not be selected for admissions by to the ECE graduate program for various reasons
- an Offer Letter or Rejection Letter can take up to 6 months to reach you

- a University of Manitoba Student
- in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and
- have obtained an academic advisor
please fill-in the application for Graduate Studies in AURORA.
For UofM students in the ECE dept
- REFERENCE LETTERS: Usually not necessary, however, please ask your advisor if he/she would like you to obtain them
- PAST TRANSCRIPTS: Not needed
- STUDENT HISTORY: Not needed
