  • Damage walls or paint
  • Mount any poster on the outside of their door or window that is offensive in nature.

Guest Policy

You are expected to assume responsibility for the action of your guests, and you will be held accountable for a guest's violation of the Residence Contract. If problems arise with your guest (e.g. drunkenness, or any infraction of this contract), you may forfeit my privilege of having future guests, and a College representative may ask my guest to leave. Rooms are contracted to Residents for their private use only. To have a guest all you need to do is sign the guest in with the Don on duty before the end of Visiting Hours on that day. If I wish to have a guest for more than two consecutive nights, make advance arrangements with the Dean of Residence. Long-term guests are not permitted.

Holiday Break Shut Down

You are welcome to stay in residence during the holiday break, but you must let the general office know. There will be no food service during this time.

St. Johns College is not responsible for your personal belongings. It is recommended that you purchase tenants insurance through your insurance broker. Some residents may be covered by your family's house insurance.

Before you talk to an insurance broker you may want to think about the following.

  • What is the value of my possessions
  • What is covered by the policy?
  • Does the insurance cover my belongings during moving in/out

You are responsible for reporting thefts to campus security.

There are laundry facilities in the basement level of St. Johns Residence. There is a $10 deposit for the laundry card which you can get back when you are done with it. Each load costs $1 to wash and $1 to dry, laundry cards with $5 or more at the end of the year will be refunded if you are not returning to residence. Refunds must be done in person during regular office hours.

Mail is delivered to the General Office on weekday mornings, where it is collected by the Don on duty and put under the door of your room. If you get a parcel, you will receive a notice, and can pick it up from the General Office.
