Research

Research interests

Dr. Duncan's research focuses on the genetics and breeding of Brassica species. Dr. Duncan leads the high erucic acid rapeseed and canola hybrid development program at the University of Manitoba. The Brassica breeding team develops and releases cultivars that are grown by farmers in Western Canada. The Brassica breeding team focus on improving agronomic performance, disease resistance and seed quality.

Current research projects

  • High erucic acid rapeseed and canola cultivar development
  • Improvement of clubroot and blackleg resistance in Brassica species
  • Adding value to seed quality in Brassica species
  • Genomic prediction for improving hybrid performance
