3rd International Symposium 16th International Conference of ISTRO Time: July 14 ¨C 18, 2003 The International Soil Tillage Research Organisation is a World-Wide Association of People concerned with the Physical Processes of Soil Management and their Impact on Soils, Crops and the Environment. Paper proposals are requested now on the following themes: 1 SOIL DYNAMICS: 2 TRAFFIC and TILLAGE: 3 PRECISION AGRICULTURE: 4 TILLAGE in the GLOBAL GREENHOUSE: 5 SOIL QUALITY and HEALTH: 6 ZERO and CONSERVATION TILLAGE: 7 ECONOMICS and CASE STUDIES: 8 STRUCTURE and HYDROLOGY 9 TILLAGE and the ENVIRONMENT: Costs: A conference registration fee of less than Aus$1000 is anticipated, with substantial discounts for ISTRO members and students. Accommodation will be available from less than Aus$80 per night. Tours: A pre-conference tour starting from Sydney on 9th July is planned to take in the winegrowing areas of the Hunter Valley, and visit extensive dryland and irrigated grain, cotton and vegetable production -- including high-precision controlled traffic & zero till systems. A post-conference tour of sub-tropical and tropical agriculture and horticulture ¨C including the sugar industry ¨C is planned to end at Cairns, on the Great Barrier Reef, on 24th July.
