for Papers:

The
study of literature by Aboriginal writers in Canada has often
been subsumed under categories, patterns, and themes that
fail to recognize the unique styles, imaginations, tropes and
metaphors of individual authors. This conference seeks to explore
and highlight the aesthetic richness of the texts and the fluid
nature of language. It will bring together writers and scholars
respectively engaged in artistic and critical appreciation of "the love of words" in Aboriginal literatures.
A
variety of critical perspectives and/or themes are encouraged;
however, papers should discuss an Aboriginal (particularly, First
Nations and Métis) author and/or work(s) with particular
emphasis on uniqueness, nuance, complexity, and creativity of the
writer/writing. Some themes that may emerge include:
We
invite submissions of three (3) copies of either proposals
(300-500 words) or completed papers. Please include a 100 word
abstract, and a brief bio-bibliographical note (50
words). Also kindly submit an email or a computer disk with the
same information. The deadline for submissions is March
1, 2004.
