How did Iridium get its name?

Iridium is the 77th element on the Periodic Table of Elements and was given its name because it contained both ID and UM in the name.

Why do we need Iridium?

Managing and remembering different passwords for multiple systems can be difficult.  To cope, many users resort to bad habits, such as a sticky note under the keyboard, a note in the wallet or the back page of the day timer.  Many systems also force a periodic password change, which can make manual password synching difficult for the user.

Having one place to change your password on multiple systems and the self-service password reset option should make management easier.  As well, the Iridium system has a 6-month password change policy, which allows the user to make one password change on all the supported systems at once.

A note of caution!  While password synching at work is convenient, we don’t recommend that you use the same password at work as you do on your personal accounts such as banking, social media, personal email, online games and web forums.  Account security on a web forum or social media service may not be as strong as the security at your bank website.  A person may easily compromise one account and use that password to access your other accounts.
