Refund Policy
Textbooks and Course Material

Authorized textbooks may be returned up to one week (during summer session and exam periods) from the date of purchase, class commencement or course change/withdrawal (two weeks for regular session.) Sales receipt and valid ID* are required.  Opened shrink-wrapped coursepacks are non-refundable.

Returns are accepted based on the standards set by the publishers.  Publishers will not accept any books with even just the slightest defect or damage. We cannot refund any book that appears read, used, marked, bent, torn or if the spine is cracked.  Textbooks must be in perfect condition.

Access Codes are non-refundable.

General Books, Clothing and Giftware

General reading books, insignia items and clothing may be returned within two weeks of purchase for exchange or refund.  Merchandise must be unopened, new and accompanied by a sales receipt and valid ID*.  Clothing items, bags, and backpacks must have original tags attached.  A restocking fee may apply.  We cannot refund any book that appears read, used, marked, bent, torn or if the spine is cracked.  Special Orders, quick reference, study guides, and test preparation materials are non-refundable.

Computers

Returns are accepted on items that are manufacturer-sealed, in resalable condition, within two weeks of purchase.  Sales receipt and valid ID* are required.  Restocking fees may apply.

All opened hardware components will be tested and a restocking fee assessed before a refund will be given. All original packaging, manuals and manufacturer's CDs must accompany the original sales receipt.

Hardware items will not be refunded by Computers on Campus if the Manufacturer's warranty is in force. Replacement, repair or warranty assistance will be at the discretion of Computers on Campus.

Refunds will not be given for special orders, final sale items, opened ink cartridges, OEM hardware components, computer disks, CD’s, DVD’s, or sealed items such as software.  For hygienic reasons, head sets, ear phones and ear buds are non-returnable.  If defective, these items may be exchanged only when accompanied by the original receipt and all original packaging.

Servicing Products

All new hardware purchased from the Computers on Campus comes with a manufacturer limited warranty. Some items are serviced on campus. Local service suppliers service other warranties and some warranties are handled directly by the manufacturer. Please read your product warranty card or contact the Computers on Campus for specific details.

Method of Refund

All refunds will be credited in the same form as the original payment. Refunds on payments made by cheque will be subject to a two week holding period.

What does this mean?

  • Keep your receipt
  • Do not remove any tags
  • Do not use or damage the merchandise
  • Restocking fees may apply if the product is not in perfectly new condition
  • If you paid by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card
  • Returns are at the discretion of BookStore personnel
  • Ensure you have valid ID (UM Student ID or Government-issued photo ID)
