Faculty of Science courses, including an M* 9
Humanities or Social Science courses, including a W* 12

*Include at least one 3 credit hour W course and one 3 credit hour M course in your course selection


  • If balancing admission to Nursing with other programs, note that all 30 credit hours listed in the first year courses chart are required for admission.
  • All courses must be at the 1000 level or higher.
  • If you do not intend on taking upper-level Faculty of Science courses, consider choosing an 'interest' level Faculty of Science course from the Recommended Introductory Courses list. These courses fulfill the Faculty of Science requirement, but do not require a strong science background or previous study in that subject.  
  • Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit may be used to reduce the first year course load and as a prerequisite to 2000 level courses, where applicable.


Minimum Credit Hours: 30 credit hours of specific coursework. See the Applicant Information Bulletin.
Minimum Course Load:

University 1 may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.

All admission requirements for Fall applicants must be met by the end of April in the year of application.

All admission requirements for Winter applicants must be met by the end of August in the year of application.

W Requirement: Must be met prior to admission. Your Humanities or Social Science course(s) should be used to fulfill the W requirement. Minimum 1000 level required.
M Requirement: Must be met prior to admission. Your Science course(s) should be used to fulfill the M requirement.
Minimum GPA:

2.50 with a minimum of 'C' in each course. Admission is competitive - a higher than minimum GPA is required and varies each year according to applicant pool.

Additional Requirements:

Criminal Record Search Certificate, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Respiratory Mask Fit Test, CPR, and completed/current immunizations are required. Refer to the Applicant Information Bulletin for details regarding these non-academic requirements.

Selection Criteria:

Grades only.

  • Biology 40S minimum 50% is strongly recommended.
  • Courses in Science at the 40S level are recommended.


  • 4 years (120 credit hours).
