  • If balancing admission to Dental Hygiene with other programs, note that Dental Hygiene requires all 30 credit hours of courses listed in the chart.
  • SOC 1200 Introduction to Sociology is strongly recommended as an elective.
  • Consider taking HEAL 1600 Health and Health Professions as an elective.
  • Alternate English courses include ENGL 1200 (W) and ENGL 1300 (W). A 6 credit hour English course will satisfy the W requirement as well as 3 credit hours of electives for admission.
  • Choose electives from the Recommended Introductory Courses list. 
  • Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit may be used to reduce the first year course load and as a prerequisite to 2000 level courses, where applicable.


Minimum Credit Hours: 30 credit hours of specific coursework. See the Applicant Information Bulletin.
Minimum Course Load:

University 1 may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.

All admission requirements must be met by the end of April of the year of application.

W Requirement: Required for admission, and will be met by ENGL 1400 (W) or WNGL 1340 (W). Alternate courses include ENGL 1200 (W) and ENGL 1300 (W), which will satisfy the written requirement as well as 3 credit hours of electives for admission.
M Requirement: Required for admission, and will be met by STAT 1000 (M).
Minimum GPA:

Based on selection priority as listed in the Applicant Information Bulletin, with no grade less than 'C' in each course [ENGL 1400 (W) or ENGL 1340 (W) requires 'C+']. Admission is competitive - a higher than minimum GPA is often required and varies each year depending on the applicant pool.

Additional Requirements:

Admission is restricted to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents.

Criminal Record Search Certificate, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and completed/current immunizations are required. See the Applicant Information Bulletin for more details. 

Selection Criteria:

Grades only.

  • Chemistry 40S minimum 50% required.
  • Math 40S (Pre-Calculus) minimum 50% required or Math 40S (Applied) minimum 50% required.
  • Biology 40S minimum 50% recommended.
