What inspires you?
I am inspired by the natural world around us. I love to feel the sunrise, and to hear the Northern Lights, and to sense the heart beat of the Earth. The belief that the Earth is our Mother gives me a sense of connection to all living things. It helps me be a better human being, a better husband, a better brother, a better father and a better Mooshum (Grandfather).

What is your advice to current Indigenous university students and the 2014 Indigenous graduates of the University of Manitoba?
Maya Angelou has written that people will not always remember what you do, nor will they always remember what you say, but they will always remember how you made them feel. Self-respect and mutual respect go hand in hand, and are the key to your happiness as a human being. Be proud, stand tall, and others will be lifted by you. I love being Anishinaabe. Greet each day in that strong way.
