External Awards & Scholarships

The following is a list of organizations which offer scholarships and awards that may be of interest to current and entering University of Manitoba undergraduate and graduate students. Awards with upcoming deadlines will be noted; students are encouraged however, to search for scholarship opportunities year-round.

Because these scholarships and awards are administered by industry, government and private organizations outside of the University of Manitoba, students should read all of the information provided carefully and direct questions to the appropriate department listed on the application.

A Place for Mom Senior Wisdom Scholarships - Five $2,000 scholarships available to students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the fields of gerontology, medicine, nursing, social work, sociology, psychology, physical or occupational therapy, speech pathology, elder law or long-term care administration. BluEarth Renewables Scholarships - currently offers two scholarship programs for university students: one for Indigenous students and one for community leaders. For more information and applications please click on the link above.

Business Council of Manitoba Aboriginal Education Awards - The Business Council of Manitoba is committed to helping Aboriginal students attend university or community college. We believe that education is an important component in their personal development and greatly improves their opportunities. Annual Application Deadline: March 31.

For applicants who have not already submitted their Award applications to the universities or colleges:

In light of the precautions being taken surrounding the COVID-19 virus, and the closures of many institutions, most applicants will be unable to drop their Award applications off at the universities and colleges.

Although at this time we are not formally extending the deadline, we understand there may be issues with students submitting their applications by the March 31st deadline.

Students may still submit applications as soon as possible with a brief note of explanation.

Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Scholarships - Please click on link above for eligibility and application details. Application Deadline: April 3, 2020.

Canadian Hearing Services National Scholarship Program - available to Deaf and hard-of-hearing Canadian residents 17 years of age or older attending an accredited post-secondary educational institution. Scholarship awards are $3,000 per year for full-time students and $1,000 per year for part-time students. Please click on link above for application details. Application Deadline: May 20, 2020.

Canadian Japanese-Mennonite Scholarship - $2000 for graduate students engaged in minority/human rights research. Please click on link above for application details.

Canadian Northern Studies Trust - Various awards from $1,500 - $10,000 offered to students enrolled in full-time post-secondary education that have an aspect of northern or circumpolar fieldwork included as part of their scholastic research that is conducted within the term of the award. CEMF Awards for Women in Engineering - Please visit this website for information on available awards and deadline dates.

Community Foundation of Swan Valley Awards - currently two awards are available to post-secondary students who are from the Swan Valley River area. One award is for a student in the field of Agriculture and one to a student in the College of Pharmacy. Please click on the link for application details. Application Deadline: October 1st.

Corporate Finance Institute Annual Scholarships - These scholarships ($500) are available for Canadian business school students enrolled in a degree program. For more information and applications please click on the link above. Deadlines: March 31 and November 15, annually.

CreditcardGenius 2020 Scholarship Canada - A $2000 scholarship is available for an undergraduate or graduate student registered full-time in any program with outstanding academic achievement. Please click on the link above for application details. Application deadline: September 4th.

Dauphin Agricultural Society Scholarship/Bursary - A $1000 award is available for the first or second year tuition for post secondary studies. Please click on link above for application details.

Donich Entrepreneurial Scholarship - A $1,000 award will be presented to an undergraduate or law student at the University of Manitoba who is distinguished by work experience and academic achievement. Please click on the link above for application details. Application Deadline: November 30.

EDC International Business Scholarships - 30 awards valued at $4,000 offered to students who are studying a bachelor's degree in International business or business combined with environmental or sustainability studies. Please click on link above for application details.

EduCanada International Scholarships - Undergraduate and Graduate exchange program opportunities. Please click on link above for application details.

Haywood|Hunt & Associates Inc. - This scholarship is available to Canadian college and university students, and the chosen student will be awarded a $1250 grant towards their education. For more information please click on the link above. Application Deadline: August 31.

Healthgrad.com - is pleased to announce its annual $1,000 Healthcare Leadership Scholarship! for students in any 4 year healthcare program. For more information and deadlines please click the link above. Application Deadline: May 1.

James Dyson Award - invites Canada's bright industrial design and engineer students to submit their best design ideas - something that solves a problem - competing to win a prize of $50,000. Please click on link above for application details.

LA Tutors Innovation in Education Scholarship - This award provides opportunities for gaining real-working experience in a chosen field, and gives students the chance to connect with adults outside their circle who might be able to help students get into their top college or get an internship. Lyle Makosky Values and Ethics in Sport Fund  - a minimum of two scholarships valued at $2000 each will be awarded to successful applicants studying in various sports disciplines. Please click on link above for application details. Deadline date: April 30.

Manitoba Credit Union Bursary Program - awarding up to 10 bursaries of $500 to Manitoban students. Applicants must be a credit union member. For more information click on the link above. Application Deadline: February 28, 2020.

Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU) - Each year the MGEU awards numerous bursaries and scholarships to Manitobans pursuing post-secondary education and training programs. Any registered, dues-paying member, or spouse of a member, or child or ward of a member, is eligible. Please click on link above for application details.

Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers Association Bursary - Three bursaries valued at $1000 each are available to assist with the financial needs of students who are enrolled in a post-secondary agricultural program within the Province of Manitoba. Please click on link above for eligibility and application details. Deadline date: January 10th.

Marymound Bursary Program - $500- $2000 for students who have been involved in one of Marymound's school, foster home or treatment programs. Annual Application Deadlines: July 15 and November 15.

North American Van Lines Logistic Scholarship Competition - intended for students in the area of business, logistics and similar fields. Four scholarships valued at $1000 each will be awarded. Please click on link above for application details. Deadline date: December 15.

Progressive Automations Scholarship - To promote education in the field of engineering, each year, 2 $1000 scholarships are awarded to successful applicants. For more information and application deadlines please click the link above.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Program - Aims to mobilize a dynamic community of young global leaders to create lasting impacts both at home and abroad through inter-cultural exchanges encompassing international education, discovery and inquiry, and professional experiences. Sarah Gaulin Memorial Scholarship - a national scholarship that promotes the resilience of individuals with mental illness pursuing post-secondary education. See link for full details.

Soroptimist Foundation of Canada - annually offers several $7,500 grants to female graduate students in Canada to assist them with university studies which will qualify them for careers which will improve the quality of women's lives.
