The Pan Am Games: now and for the future

Andy Boychuk
Andrew Boychuk, winner of the marathon in a time of 2:23:02.4.

"It started, 13 days ago, with Prince Philip wearing raindrop earings. It ends, alas, with a different kind of moisture: teardrops, especially when the band plays Auld Lang Syne and people start waving goodbye. Well, adios.
It doesn't seem like two weeks, but it is, and it's funny how a city can change its personality so quickly. If they give us the Pan Am Games every summer the whole world would want to live here. Even people from Vancouver."

Jack Matheson, Tribune Sports Editor, August 5, 1967
