Call for Papers
Actuarial Research Conference
2012 Annual Meeting
August 1 - 4, 2012
You are encouraged to submit a proposal to make a presentation at the 2012 annual
Actuarial Research Conference. Papers (on research or education) on any actuarial
topic (traditional or non-traditional) are welcome. Specific subject areas include actuarial
mathematics, financial mathematics, quantitative risk management, university actuarial
education, professional actuarial education, or insurance economics. In addition,
actuarial issues in regulation, insurance company operations, corporate governance,
public policy, health care, international issues, retirement, or employee benefits are also
Abstracts (not exceeding two pages) for proposals should be submitted by July 2, 2012.

Meeting registration is required. The names and affiliations of all co-authors, with
telephone, fax numbers, and e-mail address of the designated contact person, should be
provided on a separate cover page attached to the proposal.
Proposals from graduate students are encouraged. The Committee on Knowledge
Extension and Research (CKER) of the Society of Actuaries will award travel grants of
up to $1,000 to graduate students who are presenting papers. The award is restricted to
one or two students per school. See here for details and an application. The deadline to
apply is May 25, 2012.
The SOA Education and Research Section will award a $500 prize for the best
presentation by a graduate student. See here for details.
We note that the annual meeting of the American Risk and Insurance Association begins
August 5, 2012, immediately following the ARC in nearby Minneapolis, MN, USA. Here
