Dr. ‘t Jong is a general pediatrician, focusing on the care of Northern, Indigenous, and underprivileged children, running clinics through Children’s Clinic with a dynamic team of colleagues. He also provides inpatient services as a hospitalist with the PINE team, which serves the same populations. He is interested in clinical research, knowledge translation, change management, the learning health-care system, electronic patient care systems, and EBM.

Dr. ‘t Jong is a clinical pharmacologist and pediatrician, whose research focuses on pharmacology in pediatrics, including pharmaco-epidemiology and clinical trials. He leads the Clinical Research Unit at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, and conducts independent research as well as industry trials.
He chairs the Pediatric Research Coordinating Committee (PRCC) and the Pharmacology & Therapeutics Child Health Subcommittee, and leads the pediatric representation in the EMR Advisory Committee. He fulfills several leadership roles on national and international level, including Past Chair of the Drug and Regulatory Outcomes community at ASCPT, and Chair of the Drug Therapy and Hazardous Substances Committee at the Canadian Pediatric Society.
