PROFILE:
Dr. Christine Ateah has taught and conducted research in the area of child and family health promotion for over 20 years. Dr. Ateah's specific expertise is parent education to promote healthy child development and prevent child maltreatment. Research studies included evaluation of the 'Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting' (PDEP) violence prevention program, abused women's mothering experiences, new parents' information needs, parental use of physical punishment, and pre-natal parent education. She has presented and published her research at the local, national and international levels. Dr. Ateah has co-authored Canadian textbooks on growth and development, pediatric nursing and co-edited a book on family violence prevention.
