COMPUTER SERVICES

  • CREATING COMPUTER (ClaimID) & EMAILmail Accounts
    • Go to http://umanitoba.ca/computing/ist/accounts/claimid.html 
    • Follow the Step-By-Step Instructions to create a computer and email account
    • Print out your logons and ID displayed at the end of this process
    • You will use these logons and ID (UMNET) throughout your stay at the University.  This ID will allow you to
      • Register for courses
      • See you grades
      • See and pay your fees
      • logon to computers in most labs on-campus
      • logon to classroom computers to teach courses 

 

 

ACCESS TO LABS, ROOMS, BUILDING

  • UNIVERSITY ID CARDS -- The University ID card allows Grad Students access to various parts of the EITC Building (engineering)
    • You may apply for your University ID Card once you have Registered for Courses (FOR the very first time)
    • Fill-in the ID Card Form
    • Normally -- Go to the
           ID Centre NEXT TO the Registrar’s Office
           400 University Centre
          open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m
    • HEAVY REGISTRATION PERIODS
      During certain times of the year the ID Centre may be busier than usual and will move their ID Card facilities to a larger location.  Please watch for signs in the University Centre Bldg. or on the ID Centre door for alternate locations
  • CARD KEY ACCESS FORM
    • Fill-in the Card Key Access Form found in your WELCOME PACKET  
      • Before submission, ask your professor to fill-in any additional access required using "Card Key Access"
      • Ask your professor to
        • list the rooms/labs you are to have access to in the "ACCESS CODE" area of the form
        • initial next to the list of rooms/labs
    • Bring it to Room E2-290 (Engineering Dean's Office) for access approval           
  • DOOR CODE FORM 
    • If you need Door Code Access please fill-in the form found in you WELCOME PACKET
    • Ask your professor to which rooms you require DOOR CODE ACCESS
      • your professor fills in and signs the form
    • Submit it to E2-390
  • ROOM KEYS 
    • Fill-in the form in your WELCOME PACKET 
    • Return the Room Key form to the Receptionist in E2-390 ECE main office
    • When your key arrives be prepared to
      • Pay the Receptionist a KEY DEPOSIT of $50
      • The deposit will be returned to you when you return the key
