The Faculty of Arts Co-operative Education Program is a professional development program where students alternate regular academic terms with paid, full-time employment in their area of study. It is an excellent way to enhance classroom learning with on-the-job experience. As an undergraduate student, it can help students choose the career areas they wish to pursue after graduation. Employers gain motivated, productive employees who will graduate with both knowledge and experience.
Students who participate in Co-op combine academic knowledge with practical experience to better prepare them for employment upon graduation. Co-op students receive job posting and professional career skill development assistance and support provided by the Faculty of Arts Co-op Office. Co-op offers the opportunity to try different career options and develop professional contacts in a chosen field.
For each successfully completed work term, students receive one credit hour. Work term placements may be with private companies, government departments, non-government organizations and universities.
