Can I register for a class that requires a prerequisite if I am currently taking the prerequisite course? (e.g., Registered to take SOC 2510 in the Fall and want to register for SOC 2610 in the Winter term)

Yes, a student need only be registered for a prerequisite course in order to register for upper level courses in the subsequent term. For example, many students will register for SOC 2510 (Criminology) in the Fall term, and SOC 2610 (Criminal Justice and Corrections) in the Winter term. If you fail to meet the minimum requirement in SOC 2510 (i.e., a “C”), you will be removed from the subsequent course – normally about one month into the subsequent term when grades are officially processed from the previous term (for example, by the end of January, all grades are processed from the Fall term).
