Language Centre - Tutor Program

Hello Multilingual Students!

All of you have learned a new language at one point and know that is can be challenging. It will be even harder learning it online. The Language Centre of the Faculty of Arts offers and coordinates a tutor program for new language learners. We are looking for volunteers who can function as tutors mainly for the beginner’s classes. We offer a wide range of languages and are looking for advanced language learners or speakers. You don’t have to be a native speaker. The individual sessions would be 60 minutes with either one student or a small group of students via Zoom. The schedule is very flexible and can be adopted to your availability, as it is all online. This program gives you the opportunity to be socially involved on campus. If you volunteer for at least 10 hours, your time will be registered for Co-Curricular record, which is a great resume boost. Being a tutor is lots of fun, helps you to practice your language and gives you that vital volunteer time many employers are looking for. For the sessions you will be using the Language Centre’s Zoom account. We will offer an introductory work-shop and conduct small “mock sessions” to get you familiar with the program. These online meeting tools will be vital for the future so it is a good opportunity to get familiar with them.

Please note that the Academic Learning Centre offers two very useful workshops for tutors. These workshops can be listed on your resume.
