The University is migrating mail services to Microsoft 365 to provide mail services to all staff, students, alumni and retirees. Users of Apple devices will need to remove and re-add their accounts as part of this migration.

Existing UM instructions still apply, with one change: the authentication method must be OAuth2, not Basic. The method can only be set after the profile is created, so once the account profile is created, change the setting at
Account Settings > Server Settings > Security Settings > Authentication Method and select OAuth2 from the Authentication Method dropdown in most recent versions. The other IMAP settings are:
Incoming mail server – outlook.office365.com
Outgoing mail server – smtp.office365.com
Under incoming server IMAP enter – 993 and SSL/TLS
Under Outgoing server (SMTP) enter – 587 and STARTTLS

DavMail is a mail gateway that can be installed in standalone mode on your computer to let you use any mail client that supports standard protocols (POP, IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, CardDav) with Office 365, including mail clients that do not support Modern Authentication (OAuth 2.0). DavMail is implemented in Java and can be run in standalone mode or as a server. Communication between mail clients and DavMail is not encrypted by default, and as such standalone mode is preferable for users unfamiliar with managing SSL certificates. In either mode, DavMail relies on the EWS endpoint in Microsoft 365, https://outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx.
DavMail supports Office 365 modern authentication (OAuth 2.0) and multi-factor authentication in the following modes:
DavMail’s default App ID has been approved within Azure AD; if you chose to change the default App ID in your davmail.properties file a new consent request will be required. Please see the DavMail FAQ for more information.
In either authentication mode, once initial authentication succeeds DavMail will retain the refresh token and should automatically renew access tokens on expiration.
