Words in Motion

A community outreach program that enables writers and storytellers to perform their work or lead workshops in places where such opportunities are not normally available--places such as Manitoba's rural and Aboriginal communities, and Winnipeg's downtown core and North End.

Community organizations that are interested in co-sponsoring events of this nature are invited to contact us with proposals.

Some of our projects:

Manitowapow Aboriginal Writers Series (2010), a series of readings by Aboriginal writers, held at Aqua Books.  Readers included Marie Annharte Baker, Donna Beyer, Rosanna Deerchild, Shayla Elizabeth, Roberta Kennedy, Maeengan Linklater, Beatrice Mosionier, Tarina Parisian, William Prince, Isaac Rice, David Robertson, Niigonwedom Sinclair, Jennifer Storm, Katherena Vermette, and Jordan Wheeler.

The Manitowapow Aboriginal Writers Series was the genesis of a forthcoming anthology of work by Manitoba Aboriginal writers, edited by Warren Cariou and Niigonwedom Sinclair.
