Marisol Soto

Marisol assists in the planning and implementation of evaluation projects and the development of protocols for collection of data as well as conducts preliminary analysis and prepares project reports for various audiences. She also collaborates with other Centre staff to implement programs such as the Graduate Teaching Program and the Teaching and Learning Certificate for faculty.

In addition, Marisol teaches workshops at The Centre for faculty and sessional instructors to help them transition their face-to-face classes to remote, online or blended teaching as well as learn how to monitor student progress and increase engagement with virtual learning platforms like Webex and UM Learn.

Marisol obtained her Master of Arts in Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics with a Graduate Minor in Human Rights Studies from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She conducted on-site research on gender violations of human rights in indigenous communities of Mexico and Guatemala.

While at the University of Minnesota, Marisol worked as a primary instructor developing face-to-face and hybrid lectures as well as curriculums for writing intensive culture and language courses for undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, Marisol worked for the Language Center at the University of Minnesota providing language assessments and placements for undergraduate students. Marisol has a passion for teaching and educational research. At The Centre, Marisol teaches workshops on student engagement and teaching strategies in an effort to ensure that instructors are creating significant learning experiences that allow students to reach their full academic potential while providing a positive and engaging working environment.
