Presented in partnership with MAWA – Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art

Also live-streaming on the School of Art Gallery YouTube channel. ASL interpretation and closed-captioning (on YouTube) available.

Join us for a panel discussion on the work of celebrated artist Sheila Butler, whose solo exhibition, Other Circumstances, is featured at the School of Art Gallery this fall.  Butler, one of MAWA’s foremothers, is well-known and respected for her important work as a painter, printmaker, community leader and an artist-activist. Presenters include Other Circumstances co-curators Pamela Edmonds and Patrick Mahon, as well as printmaker and School of Art Assistant Professor Suzie Smith. Together, they will provide insight into Butler’s remarkable artistic practice, her work as a community organizer and educator, and the significant impact her contributions have made.
