Exhibition Tour and Feminist Figure Drawing

Do you miss drawing live models? Want to practice drawing the human body but need the time and space? MAWA offers figure drawing with live models in a feminist environment. This special session will begin with a short tour of feminist artist Sheila Butler’s focused retrospective, Other Circumstances, which includes figurative paintings and works on paper spanning 35 years of production. Get inspired by Butler’s dynamic renderings of bodies suspended in motion, then head up to the drawing studio for an hour-long life drawing session. Model will begin at 7:30, with short poses suitable for quick gesture drawings before moving on to longer poses. Drawing boards are provided; participants are asked to bring their own materials. All genders welcome; no registration required.
