Health Sciences Faculties to Get Expanded Library Thanks to Donors

A successful fundraising campaign has made it possible to receive additional funding from the federal government to renovate the Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library. Generous donors contributed $1.3 million to expand the library that serves the health sciences faculties at the U of M, as well as the wider medical community in the province. “Donor support was essential,” says Ada Ducas, head of the Neil John Maclean Library. “The funding allowed us to apply for the Knowledge Infrastructure Program from the government.” Among the many features of the expanded library will be group study rooms, a new conference/training room and redeveloped and expanded spaces for the Faculty of Medicine Archives, the Aboriginal Health Collection and the History of Medicine.
