Terry's CAUSE on campus

Thank you to all participants who took part in Terry's CAUSE on Campus at the University of Manitoba.  Despite the cold and rainy weather we had over 125 people turnout to support this worthy CAUSE.  We also raised over $4,500 for the Terry Fox Foundation!  Congrats to you all!  For pictures of the event, visit our facebook page and view the Terry's CAUSE 2013 album.

Finally a big thank you to all our campus partners and volunteers who graciously donated their time and resources to make this event happen.

See you again in 2014!

DATE & LOCATION

The Terry’s CAUSE – Walk, Roll and Run will take place on Saturday September 28, 2013 at the University of Manitoba Campus.

The staging area and start-line for the walk will be located on the Curry Place Pedway which is the walkway located between the Education Building and Architecture Building.

PARKING
Participants are asked to park in U lot.  See map for more information.

CHECK-IN

Teams may begin checking-in at 9am. At the time of check-in each team member will be required to sign a waiver, fill-in a pledge tracking sheet and submit their pledge form and funds if they chose to fundraise.

Please ensure that the pledge form and funds are organized in a manner that will allow the volunteers to quickly review your pledges and confirm that the appropriate funds have been submitted.  If you and/or your team mates collected funds on-line you will be required to provide us with the estimated amount that your raised. Your team members and yourself will be asked what your registered team name is and that will be the name of the person who is the “team captain” and initially registered the team with Recreation Services.

WALK
At approximately 9:45 a short pre-walk ceremony and warm-up will take place.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will signify the start of the walk.  A large portion of the walk will be on sidewalks throughout the campus.  We ask that you remain on the sidewalk/grass when the walk is on the sidewalk for safety purposes.  Some portions of the walk will be on the road please stay in the designated lanes only.  The walk will end with a lap around the concourse of Investors Group Field. We will enter on at the south east gates and exit through the south west gates.  A ramp and stairs are available at both entrances. Participants asked to stay on the concourse only and do not venture down into the seats or other areas of the facility (i.e. washrooms, doors to rooms…etc.).

ROLLERBLADERS AND BICYCLISTS
The terrain for the Walk, Roll and Run will have multiple surfaces mostly concrete and cobblestone so please take that into consideration if you plan to rollerblade.  Also we strongly encourage all rollerbladers and cyclists to wear helmets and appropriate safety gear.  As per the City of Winnipeg By-law all youth under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.
