Are you feeling nervous about being in university?
Would you like an easy way to make new friends on campus?
Wondering how to do well in your classes?
If you've answered yes to any of these questions then PACT is for you!
University 1 and the Aboriginal Student Centre invites all new and returning Aboriginal students to join PACT: Promoting Aboriginal Community Together.
The University 1 PACT program provides Aboriginal students with student leadership and mentoring opportunities, student meetings, friendship, and more!
PACT is a recognized program of the Co-Curricular Record (CCR) initiative at the University of Manitoba. The CCR is a formalized, university-certified record of approved and facilitated activities that support student development in venues that are not for academic credit. The CCR will be received by students alongside their academic transcript, as a clear statement of involvement in activities that support holistic student development. PACT members have the opportunity to qualify for the Volunteerism & /Participation Co-Curricular Record.

Winter 2012 Events:
February PACT meeting for all members: Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 4:45-6:00 p.m. in the Migizii Agamik Circle Room. This meeting is for all mentors and mentored students as well as anyone interested in the program. There will be a presentation by Cora Dupuis, the Student Leadership Coordinator from Student Life. She wants to meet PACT and ask YOU what kind of workshop or training opportunities you would like to be offered as a PACT student. Food will be provided!
Volunteer in the Community Night: PACT is having some more "Volunteer in the Community" opportunities in March to give PACT students the chance to gain some CCR hours! PACT has been approved as a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) program and students must contribute a minimum 10 hours to be eligible for this to appear on their transcript. PACT will be visiting and volunteering at Siloam Mission, located at 300 Princess Street downtown, which is a humanitarian agency that offers programs and services at no charge to those who are homeless. Attending this evening is voluntary, but students have to sign up. We just went on March 2, and another March date will be selected soon. The last date to attend will be Sunday, April 1. Please contact Carla Loewen if interested.
PACT Canteen: A March lunch canteen is underway; information will be posted soon in Migizii Agamik.
