Graduate Student Writing Support
Graduate students are welcome to make appointments to see a writing tutor at the Learning Assistance Centre. The appointments may be for one hour. However, because of demand all graduate students are limited to five one-hour appointments per term.
The Virtual Learning Commons
The Virtual Learning Commons combines valuable content information with academic tools (online writing tutor, assignment calculator and calendar) and social networking software. The graduate section content section provides information on the graduate life cycle ("getting started," "first year," "mid-program," and "near completion) and University of Manitoba resources. One of the coolest features of the Virtual Learning Commons is the opportunity to add "to-dos" and then discuss them. Graduate students are often isolated because of circumstances (busy writing at home) but have similar difficulties/concerns and would like to discuss these with other graduate students. Online conversations about various "to-dos" might help combat that isolation. Why don’t you try it out?
