We Day Manitoba 2012

We Day

We Day is not just an event – it’s a movement for change.
On October 30, 2012, 18,000 students and teachers from 380 schools across the province will fill Winnipeg’s MTS Centre to celebrate We Day Manitoba, the youth empowerment movement that focuses on commitment to social action, both locally and globally.

The University of Manitoba believes strongly in We Day’s trailblazing spirit and is a major sponsor of this year’s inspiring event. A host of world-renowned speakers will take to the stage, including Mikhail Gorbachev, former president of the Soviet Union; the Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair; Hannah Taylor of the Ladybug Foundation; and a performance by pop rock group Allstar Weekend.

One of our very own, Tito Daodu, a fourth-year medicine student and recent winner of the Nahlah Ayed Prize for Student Leadership and Global Citizenship, will also be on stage at this amazing event. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to meet and get a signed autograph from Olympic bronze medalist and proud Bison, Desiree Scott.

Bringing We Day to Campus
How will you change the world? On October 30 (We Day) and 31, a pledge wall for students and staff will be installed on the main floor in University Centre. Join in the spirit of We Day by posting a pledge with your commitment to social change on the wall.
