First Floor

Fireplace Lounge (sunken area next to the Student Art Gallery)

Hours:
Open 24hours, 7 days a week

This open area only has soft seating (i.e. sofas) around its perimeter and some that can be rearranged. There are no desks or tables in this area. It can seat roughly 30 students in total and the noise-level is that of a common area, since it is connected to the Centre Café Food Court (possibly the busiest space on campus!). This space is open 24/7 and is close to the GPA Convenience store and the various food stations that University Centre has to offer. This area has few plugins.

This space is ideal for students who have light, unchallenging work to do but prefer a bustling atmosphere and for students who require a space to convene for group projects. It is also a perfect place to relax between classes.

Because of its noisiness, this space is ill suited for challenging work that requires a lot of concentration.

Centre Café Food Court (area encircled by food stores)

Hours (space):
Open 24hours, 7 days a week

Hours (food stations):
Monday to Thursday 10:30am – 6:30pm
Friday 10:30am – 3:00pm

Centre Cafe

This area is the social hub on campus. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week but the surrounding food stations (for example, Bison Grill, Subway, Pizza Pizza etc.) have limited hours (listed below). This is a noise-friendly space and all seats are reserved for patrons of the food stations on weekdays from 11:30am to1:30pm – the peak hours. As of 3:00pm the activity settles down, and by 4pm-5pm it becomes somewhat of a ghost town. The seating style is tables and chairs. There is a moderate amount of plug-ins in this area.

This space is ideal for students who have a social style of studying and who prefer to do it in a lively environment. This space is ill suited for those students who require peace and quiet. This space is particularly useful for students planning on pulling "all-nighters" given its generous hours.

Second Floor

Hallway Tables (row of tables opposite the multi-purpose halls)

Hours:
Open 24hours, 7 days a week

Hallway tables

This row of tables and chairs is tucked behind the balcony that overlooks the first floor. It is close to a Tim Horton's, one that offers a full food and beverage menu. The space has no plugins. Since this space is in a hallway, the traffic can be a little distracting for some but the noise level is slightly lower than the Centre Café Food Court.

Tim Hortons

Hours:
Monday to Thursday 8 am to 7 pm
Friday 8 am to 4 pm

Tim Hortons on 2

Unlike its counterpart on the first floor, this Tim Horton's offers a full food and beverage menu. It has approximately 17 tables with 4 spots each and 1 sofa with 2 armchairs. There are 4 outlets for laptop/mobile devices along the walls and the wireless signal here is very strong. This space is noise-friendly as this Tim Horton's has an open food preparation area behind the cash registers and this room is adjacent to the University's banquet kitchen. This space has great lighting, is well ventilated and has the benefit of being close to the vital services on campus but not too boisterous.

This space is ideal for students who prefer to study while conversing, in a casual environment. This space is ill suited to students who are easily distracted by external noise since this space is close to two kitchens.

I.Q.'s

I.Q's main room has round tables and bar-top spots for studying that can seat roughly 20 students. Here, students can fuel up on Starbucks coffee (offered through I.Q.'s), a variety of snacks and bubble tea. They also have access to a massive pool hall with cheap rates – perfect for communal study breaks. This room does not have plug-ins and music is played. The noise-level of this room is high.

I.Q.'s has their own adjoining study lounge equipped with computers, tables and couches that can seat roughly 50 students. This space has an abundance of plug-ins and several windows for lots of natural light. The noise level of this room varies between a low murmur and that of a common area.

I.Q.'s, including its food and beverage station, is open late daily!

I.Q.'s main room is an ideal space for students who enjoy a casual environment for studying (think coffee shop).

I.Q.'s

I.Q.'s adjoining study lounge is an ideal space for students who prefer a slightly quieter environment.

Degrees Restaurant & Lounge

Hours:
Regular Session
Monday – Friday 8:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday 11:00am – 7:00pm
Sunday Closed

Degrees

Only patrons of Degrees can study there but they offer a terrific atmosphere for students who are looking to fuel up on food as they get their work done. The restaurant seats roughly 60 and the seating style is mostly tables and chairs, although a few tables along the perimeter of the restaurant have cushioned seating against the wall. All plug-ins are found along perimeter walls as well. The lighting in this space is spectacular however, as with most restaurants, the noise-level is high throughout the day.

This space is ideal for students who want to have a quick bite and get work done at the same time. Since this space is noise-friendly, it is ill suited for students who are doing work that requires full attention and/or a silent environment.
