Community Placement
May 6 - June 17, 2018 (6 weeks)

Team: 4-6 Students, Interdisciplinary 

Training & Debrief
3 hours per week from March 19 - June 24, 2018 (exact times to be determined)
Program Fee: $1000 (all-inclusive)
Program fee includes food, accommodation, transportation, program activities, and comprehensive pre-departure training.
Program Description

Experience the beauty and challenge of living in Northern Manitoba through this spring placement. From food security and sustainability to education, recreation, and Cree culture, discover the realities of everyday life in the North while living in a community, interacting with residents, and volunteering in the boreal gardening project and local school.
Leaf Rapids, MB is a former mining town located on the 56th parallel in Northern Manitoba, approximately 1000 km north of Winnipeg along the Churchill River. Connected with all-weather roads to Thompson, Nelson House, South Indian Lake, and Lynn Lake, Leaf Rapids has a primarily Indigenous population, with community members who have moved off-reserve from northern Cree communities.
Leaf Rapids Service-Learning Experience is offered in partnership with Frontier School Division.

Students who successfuly complete the program are eligible for recognition on their
Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
