Emerging Leader Award

Applications are now closed.

The Student Life office recognizes up to 75 University of Manitoba students who demonstrate leadership through supporting the University of Manitoba's educational mission by contributing to the social, cultural or economic well-being of communities on and/or off campus, encouraging cross-cultural understanding, and/or demonstrating sustained leadership and initiative that is worthy of recognition.

Nahlah Ayed Prize for Student Leadership & Global Citizenship

Applications are now closed.

The International Centre for Students (ICS), through its World W.I.S.E. Resource Centre, offers an annual prize to encourage students at the University of Manitoba to participate in activities that celebrate diversity, curiosity, respect, mutual understanding, and will expand their horizons and develop global skill sets.

3M National Student Fellowship

Applications are now closed.

The 3M National Student Fellowship honours up to ten full-time undergraduate students at Canadian institutions who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their lives and at their college or university. These students embrace a vision of quality education that enhances their academic experience and beyond.

Please note that the University of Manitoba is only able to forward a maximum of ten (10) names to the review committee. Should you be interested in making a submission, please contact Cora Dupuis no later than December 1. For more information: cora.dupuis@umanitoba.ca or 204-474-7383.

Volunteer Manitoba Awards

Nominations are no longer being accepted.

The Volunteer Manitoba awards honour the contributions that individuals and groups have made to enrich the lives of Manitobans. Nominees will be selected based on a demonstration of excellence in volunteerism and community engagement.

CEC Youth Role Model Award

The Citizens Equity Committee of Winnipeg presents an award to one Senior Achiever (age 18-24) in each of the areas of Courage, Community Volunteering, Sports, Education and Training, Performing Arts, Creative Arts, Community Health & Wellness, and Advocacy.

Available for an undergraduate student at the University of Manitoba who has maintained high academic achievement while demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities in making a significant voluntary contribution to the university community.

UMSU Awards

Application period has closed.

Each year, the University of Manitoba Students’ Union provides financial awards to deserving U of M students who have made a significant contribution to improvement of student life on campus. The following awards are presented:

  • UMSU International Student Award - recognize international students who have made significant contributions to student life. $1,000 (two awards)
  • UMSU Student Involvement Award - Campus Community - recognize students who have shown exemplary skill, initiative, and dedication to building campus community at the University. $1,000 (two awards)
  • UMSU Social Justice Activism - recognize students who have shown exemplary skill, initiative, hard work, and leadership qualities through their involvement in initiatives that promote social justice and equity. $1,000 (two awards)
  • UMSU Student Involvement Award - Governance (Ed Anderson Award) - recognize students who have shown exemplary skill, initiative, and dedication working as part of, or in support of, various levels of collegial and student governance at the University. $1,000 (two awards)
  • UMSU Student Movement Award - recognize students who have shown exemplary skill, initiative, and hard work in support of the student movement. $1,000 (two awards)

Future Leaders of Manitoba Award

Nominations are no longer being accepted.

The Future Leaders of Manitoba (FLM) is now accepting nominations to find and recognize talented Manitobans between the ages of 20 and 39. The FLM Award recognizes three individuals who display strong leadership in their professional contributions and outstanding service in the community through volunteerism. They advocate for the health and success of Manitoba and the people who work and live in this province.
