Information for the Day of your test/exam

  • UM ID: You will need your UM id or photo id for the SAS exam centre staff.
  • UNABLE TO MAKE THE EXAM: If you will not be able to make it for your test, please call your instructor and the SAS Exam Centre at 204-474-6213 or 204-474-9790 (TTY) before the test begins.
  • SUPERVISED BREAKS: If Supervised Breaks is one of your accommodations, please let the staff know when you need a break.  They will stop your time and start it again when you go back to the exam room.  Remember to factor this time in when booking an early start.
  • QUESTION DURING THE TEST: If you have a question during your test we will do our best to contact the instructor.  Write your question down and an invigilator will either walk to the classroom or phone the instructor.  On the rare occasions when we are unable to reach your instructor, make a note of your question on your test paper and in the “Comments” section of the Test/Exam Particular Form.
  • SNACKS: You may bring in food or drink while you write, but please clean up after you’re done.  Please note that SAS Exam Centre staff will need to inspect any food items you wish to bring into the room. If you wish to listen to music, SAS staff must preview any tapes or CDs beforehand.
  • DEFERRED EXAMS: If you have to write a deferred exam you must book it with SAS, as you would any other test or exam. The forms of approval from your faculty do not automatically come to us, and we need to be aware of any deferrals you need to schedule so that we can set up a room for you.
  • SAS EXAM CENTRE HOURS: The SAS Exam Centre closes at 9:00pm.  If you have a test that will run past 9:00, you will need to start early if you wish to receive your full accommodated time.  For example, if you have a 3-hour exam at 6:00pm and 50% extended time, you will need to start at 4:30 to get your accommodated 4 ½ hours. If you book the exam for 6:00pm, the SAS Exam Centre will end the exam at 9:00pm.

If you have a test or exam scheduled on a Friday night or Saturday, the SAS Exam Centre will invigilate at the class scheduled time.
