Graduating in February

Getting information about your graduation

Detailed information will be sent out by email to students’ UofM e-mail accounts.

Degree and diploma parchments

Parchments for February graduates are mailed out approximately two weeks after graduation, to the address on record for you in Aurora.

You may make alternative delivery arrangements using the Parchment Delivery Request Form (PDF, will open in new window).  Options include: pick up, mail to a different address, courier.

Convocation ceremonies

Convocation ceremonies are held in Spring (May and early June) and Fall (October) of each year.  February graduates are included in the Spring ceremonies.

All February graduates will receive emails to their UofM email accounts 4-6 weeks before Spring Convocation with information about Convocation (indicating your attendance and reserving your gown, hood, and mortarboard).

February graduates who attend the Spring Convocation ceremony will have already received their official parchments.  However, you will be given a congratulatory document in a parchment folder when crossing the stage - you'll look the same as all other graduates!

February 2017 graduation and the UMFA strike

In recognition of the possibility that students may have been delayed in completing degree requirements as a result of the strike, the following plans have been put into place.

Undergraduate Students

There will be two graduations for undergraduate students in February 2017.

For students who complete all requirements according to the schedule for continuing classes (final grades submitted by January 9), graduates will be presented for approval at the Senate meeting of February 1, 2017.

For students who complete all requirements according to the modified schedule for strike-interrupted classes (final grades submitted by January 23), your graduation will be presented for approval in mid-February.

Graduate Students

There will be two graduations for graduate studies students in February 2017. To graduate on one of these dates, students must have completed all degree requirements by the deadlines provided by the Faculty of Graduate studies.

Students who have completed all degree requirements by the original date of January 4, 2017 will be presented for approval for graduation at the Senate meeting of February 1, 2017.  For these students, January 4, 2017, is the last date for receipt by the Faculty of Graduate Studies of theses/practica and reports on theses/practica, comprehensive examinations, and project reports from students (it is the student’s responsibility to ensure these requirements are met), and lists of potential graduands from departments.

Strike affected students who complete all degree requirements by February 6, 2017 will be presented for approval for graduation a the end of February, 2017. For these students, February 6, 2017, is the last date for receipt by the Faculty of Graduate Studies of theses/practica and reports on theses/practica, comprehensive examinations, and project reports from students (it is the student’s responsibility to ensure these requirements are met), and lists of potential graduands from departments.
