The Traditional Peoples Advisory Committee (TPAC) consists of Traditional Aboriginal faculty and staff at The University of Manitoba who spend much of their time addressing Traditional protocol issues on campus, including the use of Elders for cultural activities on-campus.
We are willing to share our cultures with the university community, and the growth in demand for Elders is very encouraging. TPAC was created:
to ensure that these Traditional Teachers of our cultures and worldviews are treated in an appropriate manner (i.e. Elders need to be approached, included, and thanked in a certain way)
to liaise, protect and advocate for our Elders as well as the University community in matters such as protocols, liabilities, and 'ownership' of Traditional Aboriginal knowledge.
Our process for reimbursement is currently being reworked. The updated process will be made availaible soon. If you have any immediate questions about this, please contact ISC at 204-474-8850.
