BADILI MTIZAMO 2: GIRL POWER!

A Service Learning Project in Tanzania: May & June 2012
Presented by the World W.I.S.E. Resource Centre and Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief (CPAR)
The World W.I.S.E. Resource Centre and CPAR Tanzania are looking for up to four talented and motivated U of M students to take part in a unique, not-for-credit, cross cultural experience! It will take you off the beaten path, challenge you, enrich you, and provide you with a new perspective on the world and your place in it.
The program will take place in the district of Karatu about 2 hours west of Arusha. Participants will be based in the town of Karatu, working primarily in the rural wards outside of the town. The 5–week program will introduce students to Africa, to the specific community development issues in this region of Tanzania, and to the roles and the impact of international development agencies like CPAR.
The program is a student development experience within a development context. Participants will learn more about Tanzania than they ever thought possible, but will also leran aout their own values and place in the world, all in a rich and challenging cross-cultural environment.
Successful applicants will receive a $1,000 subsidy from CPAR, a $2000 bursary from Financial Aid and Awards (U of M), and a $500 Travel Award from the World W.I.S.E. Resource Centre. Support from faculties is often available and off-campus fundraising is encouraged.

INTERNSHIP DATES: May 19 - June 23, 2012 (tentative). Exact dates will be confirmed early in the new year.
