VISITOR VISAS FOR THE U.S.A.

Many international students want to travel to the USA while they are in Canada to visit friends or family, to attend conferences, or to attend an interview at a Canadian Consulate.  Typically, it is very difficult for international students to receive visitor visas to the USA while in Canada because their status in Canada is temporary. As well, international students living in Manitoba must travel (at their own expense) to the US Consulate in Calgary, Alberta to apply for a USA visitor visa in person as it is no longer possible to send applications by mail.  Therefore, if you think you may need to visit the USA while you are in Canada, we encourage you to apply for a USA visitor visa in your own country before coming to Canada.

International Students who are already in Canada and who need to apply for a visitor visa for the USA may contact an International Student Advisor at the ICS office for assistance.
