HEALTH INSURANCE

WHO NEEDS HEALTH INSURANCE?

All international students at the U of M must have health insurance.

Two insurance plans are available at the U of M:

• Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Plan (MISHIP)
• University of Manitoba Students' Union (UMSU) Health and Dental Plan

Inernational Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Students:

• The majority of international students seeking a U of M degree will be required to purchase both insurance plans.

• The costs for membership in the health insurance plans will be assessed along with registration fees.

Inbound Exchange Students (attending U of M for one or two terms only):

• Exchange students are required to purchase MISHIP.  The UMSU Health and Dental Plan is optional .  If you wish to opt into the UMSU Heath and Dental Plan you will need to do this during the first week of school.
  
  
• The costs for membership in the MISHIP will automatically be assessed along with your registration and lab fees.
