WELCOME FAMILY INFORMATION

A Welcome Family is a volunteer program organized by the International Centre for Students that provides an opportunity for new international students* to stay with a local family for up to 5 days after they arrive in Canada from abroad. Welcome families are volunteers that are interested in meeting and helping students.

*Unfortunately, because of the high demand for this program, we can only offer it to international students with a Study Permit and not to permanent residents.

AN ICS WELCOME FAMILY WILL...

• Meet a new international student at the airport, bus or train station
• Welcome a new international students into their home and provide a much-needed rest after travel
• Offer three to five days accommodation without cost to the student
• Orient a new international student to the city, buses, banks, etc.
• Ensure that a new international student finds his/her way to ICS

HOW TO APPLY FOR A WELCOME FAMILY...

• Print the ICS Arrival Form and return it to the ICS office by email (ics@cc.umanitoba.ca) or by fax (204-474-7562)

APPLICATION DEADLINE . . .

• To esure that you recieve a placement, you must apply and provide your complete arrival details at least two weeks (14 days) before you plan to arrive in Winnipeg  Complete arrival details (arrival date, time, and flight number must be included the the time of the request).
