By choosing to apply online, you help us process your application more quickly than paper applications. We no longer accept paper applications by email, so they must be sent by courier or post.  By applying online, you can complete your preparations for travel and study sooner than ever before. 

Choosing a university can be hard. We understand, and have gone to great lengths to help prepare a place for you even before you arrive. Please go through this checklist to make sure that you have taken care of everything you need before you arrive. Remember that if you wish to apply to the University of Manitoba for conditional acceptance, you will have to complete our application and also one for the faculty of your choice.

What is conditional acceptance?
It means that you can be accepted to the University of Manitoba (U of M) at the undergraduate level, under the condition that you meet the University's English language proficiency requirements through the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs. These programs are supported by the ELC, and include IAEP and AEPUCE.

Students who choose this route agree to three (3) consecutive terms of study in order to retain their conditional acceptance to the U of M. As well, students are expected to participate for a minimum of four (4) months in the Homestay Program.

Conditional acceptance is a popular choice because it helps students prepare for university studies while providing an excellent environment for cultural understanding. Our research clearly shows that students who participate in Homestay reach their academic goals faster than students in other housing accommodations.

Important note for online applicants: Please be sure to select "Intensive Academic English Program plus UM Studies - UM studies-Main Campus" when you reach the "Program Term and Selection" page if you want conditional acceptance. For regular ELC only admission, please select "Intensive Academic English Program -Main Campus".
